Christmas 2012

Here are our pictures and a little run down of our Christmas this year... First I have to say how blessed I felt every time I looked at my pantry and saw it was covered with Christmas cards. Also we were spoiled with neighbor/friend gifts dropped off at our house almost every night (some night more than 1!) We did bake and deliver a ton of treats ourselves. The kids loved it! Christmas Eve morning Elfie left a god-bye note and some PJ's for all of us. I couldn't help but tear up each time his letter was read. I'm a major baby! We got together with Brayden and Kayla for dinner and Grandma April and Grandpa Brian's house on the 23rd. On Christmas Eve we went over to G&G's house again for Cafe Rio and to let the kids open their gifts from them. They each got their own camera that does video and has games (Jerik got his very own wiggle car!) Christmas morning Santa had come! We waited until 8:00 to open presents so Grandpa Brian, Grandma April and Uncle Kenny could come over. Branson kept feeling sad that all his friends had a bunch of presents under our tree but we didn't. We couldn't do it until Christmas Eve because of Jerik. So all morning long Branson was saying, "there are a ton ton ton presents around our tree." Branson got a soccer ball, shin guards, and soccer socks from Grandma Sue and Grandpa Larry, ball jumper from great grandma and great grandpa. Puma clothes, jump rope, slippers, and remote control helicopter from Mom and Dad, power toothbrush, body wash, and table top Foosball from Santa. Maycie got a crib, diaper bag full of stuff, and clothes for her baby from Grandma Sue and Grandpa Larry; a "girl soccer ball" from great grandma and grandpa; pretend food set, make-up, Puma clothes, slippers, and new shoes from Mom and Dad, power toothbrush, body wash, pony family, and barbie car from Santa. Jerik got a shapes/fish toy from Grandma Sue and Grandpa Larry; and sensory ball from Great Grandma and Grandpa; Puma clothes, diapers, slippers, scriptures, and a play phone from Mom and Dad; guitar, baby soap, power toothbrush from Santa. We also got a few games, a new waffle maker, and a few other things I can't remember right now. :) We were all plenty spoiled by everyone! After presents were opened we did the annual 'put decorations away on Christmas day party', then headed to Enterprise for dinner. It was a fun, fun day and we will all miss the feeling we all have during the Christmas season!

This fun little Elfie man joined our family this year.. It is SO excited each morning to find him. In fact, he was so exciting that Branson was getting up around 6:00 and waking everyone up trying to find him. We tried to set rules so this didn't happen but it wasn't working. Luckily Elfie is so smart and decided to go back to the north pole for a couple of days so we could get some sleep. It worked out perfectly. Elfie has gotten crazy sometimes during the night. Some of those things are... toilet papered the tree, drew all over our picture frames with dry erase marker, got Darla and played connect four, drew a picture with a note on the mirror, got into the Cheerios, rubber banded himself to the ceiling fan, went for a bull-ride on Branson's White Magic, took a nap with Maycie's barbies, and lots of hiding. We love having someone here to help Santa keep track of the kids. Branson even goes and tattle-tells on Maycie to Elfie.

Jerik at 18 months

Our baby is 18 months. Is he technically a baby? We like to think so! He brings our family so much joy and stress all at the same time. Everyday is fun watching him grow up and learn so many things. I have to put most things to the side for now, and focus on just Jerik. It is impossible to multi-task with him so we just stay home and play all day. Here are some of our family's favorite things about Jerik that we never want to forget.... *After family prayers before bed, we've always given each other a hug and kiss. Jerik picked up on that right away. As soon as someone says "amen" he opens his mouth huge and says his own version of "huuuuuuugs." He is a big hugger (just like his Dad). When he sees any child around his age, he goes over and gives them a big hug. He always hugs Branson and Maycie's friends when they come over too! * When anyone is brushing their teeth, Jerik runs in to get his toothbrush and toothpaste and brings it to you. He does the sign "more" because he wants to brush his teeth too. EVERY time! * Jerik is obsessed with dogs. He can't stand it when he sees one. He said, his own version of "doggie-doggie". * One night for dinner we were having Quinoa. I put a bite of it in Jerik's mouth. He raised both hands in the air and started cheering back and forth. From that day on, we all say, "Yeah Quinoa!!" Jerik always starts cheering. * Jerik loves his fuzzy "oh soft blanky." When we lay down with him, he starts searching for a soft blanket to grab. He wads it up in one hand, then rubs the palm of his other hand on it. Then switches to the other hand. If you lay down one of his "oh soft blankies" he runs over and starts rolling all around on it. * Jerik has made up his own names for each of us. Mine is of course ma-ma. He is famous to neighbors, friends, and family for saying that. ALL day long he calls out, "ma-ma, ma-ma". For Daddy, he doesn't even open his mouth. He just makes the sound, "mmmmm-mmmmm". If AJ sneaks out, Jerik is left wondering around the house saying, "mmmm-mmmm". Maycie's name is, "na-na". When she wakes up, he runs to her saying, "na-na na-na" and gives her a big hug. And he calls Branson, "duh-duh". He gets SO excited when he sees Branson's bus or when he gets home. He starts moving his feet all around saying, "duh-duh duh-duh". * Our favorite names to call Jerik are, Jerik The Berik Boy, Boomy Loomy, Jair Bair, and of course Doodies! * Jerik can also likes to say: water, ball, bus, and grandma. He signs water, more, please, all gone, and waves bye-bye. We love you Doodies, thanks for keeping us all on our toes each day!

Thanksgiving Day

This year for Thanksgiving was perfect again. We watched "Maycie's" parade and played all morning long. Grandma April came over and had dinner with us around 1:00. Jerik was asleep for the first 20 minutes so that was nice. We ate all our favorite foods, cleaned up, then headed up to the park. It was once again beautiful weather!! Maycie is awesome on her scooter with her legs of steel. Branson was in heaven playing soccer with Grandma April.

Branson soccer man!

We just had to sign Branson up for fall soccer since be absolutely LOVES every minute of it. We did it through Kicks. It has been a lot of fun and we've met a lot of nice people! The season was about 8 weeks long. Which meant Branson has got to have practice and a game every week during that time. He is seriously in heaven when he can kick a soccer ball with someone. He has said to me, "Mom, when I see a soccer ball I just want to go kick it so bad." When it was his turn to sit out, he would tear up and go sit down. He absolutely hated not being in there the entire time. The first couple of games were really hot (about 95 degrees), the last couple were really cold (one was 42 degrees.) It didn't matter to him though. He seriously didn't complain once at any game about anything but having to sit out. He has so much determination and doesn't wear out. By far Branson scored more goals than any other player on his team. As you can see in these pictures, he has his game face on! It was really fun for him this time because he got a trophy. The saddest part is that it slipped out of his hands and broke when we walked in the door. :( Good job on playing so hard Branson and always doing your best! PS... he is #5 in yellow/black.

Halloween 2012 and more!

The Saturday before Halloween we had A LOT of Halloween fun. Grandma Sue and Grandpa Larry came down to visit and because Larry had training Monday and Tuesday. We went to a fun Halloween party that Costco had for employee's families at 5:00 Saturday. We had dinner, decorated cupcakes, bobbed for apples, ring toss, pinata, etc. It was the kid's first time bobbing for apples so that was entertaining. Also the highlight of Branson's night was that he was the first to swing at the pinata, and broke it on his second hit. After the party we went to G&G's hotel to swim. The kid's showed off their amazing swimming skills, then home for bed. After church we had them over for dinner. Then Sappington's, Brayden, and Kayla over to play out front and have pumpkin cake. The kids all had lots of fun and played so good together! Monday we picked up Costa Vida/Wendy's for dinner and went to the park for 3 hours. We played football, soccer, Frisbee, tag, and of course a lunges challenge that Mom won! :) Tuesday night we went to Pier 49 pizza for dinner then miniature golfing after. Grandma Sue and Grandpa Larry came over for healthy apple pie and to play Apples To Apples. This was their last day and we were all so sad for them to leave. Wednesday was actually Halloween which meant more FUN! We had Branson's Halloween parade at school at 2:00. Maycie got to walk in it and loved being a REAL princess. AJ made it JUST in time to watch them walk by. Grandma April stopped by to see them in their costumes. She also gave them one of Branson's FAVORITE Grandma April treats - raw unsalted cashews. We let them "door-to-door" trick-or-treat to some people that we knew would be home and wanted to see the kids. Then the trunk-or-treat at the church. Love the idea of it being quick and easy so we can get home and in bed. By 8:00 everyone was beyond tired! So bath, then bed, ahhhh. Another fun, too much candy, Halloween. I guess I should mention that we borrowed the kid's costumes from the Wilkinson's since they had a ton. The kids looked adorable and loved them! Branson was a skeleton, Maycie was Ariel (Little  Mermaid,) and Jerik was a frog.

Disneyland September 2012

We left for Disneyland Saturday (15th) right after Branson's soccer game and a birthday party Maycie went to. We wanted to stay the night in Las Vegas to break up the drive. It is torture traveling with Jerik. Luckily he slept the ENTIRE drive down. We went shopping, swam at our hotel and ate pizza for dinner. The next morning after breakfast we headed for California. Of course lunch was at Cheesecake Factory, ice cream for dinner. :) Grandpa Brian and Grandma April came down about that time. Grandpa doesn't like Disneyland so he stayed at the hotel each morning. But he made sure to give the kids gum and $1 each morning. We swam for a bit then off to bed. Disneyland side was Monday. It was surprisingly busy and very HOT. We still had fun and were so happy to have Grandma April there. My kids fought over who got to ride with Grandma. California Adventure Tuesday. We (along with the rest of the US) were very excited for the Cars ride. Luckily we were towards beginning of the line but still waited about 30-45 min each time we rode (with fast passes!) It is SUCH a fun ride we all loved it. And of course the World of Color! Wednesday we did a little of each park. Branson wanted to see how close he was to being tall enough for California Screamin' so he headed over to the entrance. He came back and said, "Dad they said I need an adult to go with me." We about DIED! He went on it 3 times in a row until the park closed. Grandma April had to leave the next day so we were all sad! Thursday was also a mix of each park. We started at California Adventure so we could ride Cars again! I hate to think about negative things but I have to put this story in so we remember it. At about 11:00 AJ took Maycie on Cars while I headed to ride "Caterpillar" with Branson and Jerik. The line was long - almost to the entrance of the line. We got in line and 2 families were behind us. I forgot to grab my bag that had Jerik's water and Cheerios, and I needed it for the long wait. I asked Branson to go back to the stroller and get my bag and bring it back. He said ok and started to walk back. There was a man and a little boy about 18 months old that he went between. He put his hands out in front of him together and rolled his shoulders in like you do when you're being careful. He bumped the little boy who stumbled and fell on his bum. The lady next to the little boy grabbed him up and hit Branson on his backside 2 times as he went by while saying, "You little F*****." I said in a not so nice voice, "Excuse me? Don't you ever touch him again." She said, "Well maybe he shouldn't bump into people." I said, "So you think you can hit him? It was an accident." She said, "Well he knocked him down and I didn't spank him." I said, "Yeah I know you hit him. That is ridiculous. You should learn to control your anger." Nothing else was said but I sat there fuming mad. I was thinking so this lady just physically hit my son twice and called him the worst thing she could have. Who else does she do that to? She isn't getting away with it." I went out of line and through the exit to the employees and told them what happened and asked them to call security. They came and escorted her out of the area, separated us to get our stories. At this point I was shaking out of control and bawling so bad I could hardly speak. Branson was sitting on a bench with tears running down his face. They asked me if I wanted them to call Anahiem PD and she would be arrested for simple assault. I REALLY wanted to but I know that it would have been a nightmare. I'd have to drive to California for court and she'd probably get away with it because it was my word against hers. I just didn't want her to get away with it though. She seriously needed a punishment for acting like that. I told them no but wasn't too happy. On a MUCH brighter note, Disneyland gave us 2 no questions ask walk on any ride passes AND dinner that night at Ariel's Grotto. Which was amazing. It is just what I needed to shake the whole thing off and smile. We had a good rest of the day! Overall it was a fun trip that we hopefully won't do again for a couple of years. HA HA!
